Have you ever wondered why Japan is called The Land of the Rising Sun? Consider this as an answer: Japan is called the Land of the Rising Sun because the only thing that rises in Japan is the sun. Whether we look at productivity, salaries or prices, the answer is the same – they never go up. Japan has been a stagnant economy for the past thirty years. The only way for a Japanese worker to get a raise is to go overseas. Sure, many workers have lifetime employment, but how good is that when you receive the lowest salaries in the G7?
