Word of the Day: Eyesore
There is an increasing number of eyesores in Japan.
Unfortunately, as older adults in the countryside pass away, their children do not want to have anything to do with the homes and property left behind.
These homes fall into disrepair and become eyesores in the community.
An eyesore is anything in a community or our surroundings that people believe is ugly, out of place and should be removed.
I know this from firsthand experience.
There are many empty and decaying homes in my village.
They should be torn down or cleaned up, but who will pay for it?
Of course, nobody wants to pay to tear down these houses, so they sit and rot, becoming bigger and bigger eyesores as the days go by.
These buildings are ugly and not very nice to look at.
