Word of the Day: Kitchenette

As you can see, the term kitchenette ends with the suffix –ette.

This suffix often means something is small, such as in diskette, cigarette, novelette, etc., which are all little things.

To get back to our word for today, a kitchenette is a small kitchen area like the ones in an office break room or an extended-stay hotel room.

There is usually a coffeemaker, small sink, fridge and one or two burners in a kitchenette where simple meals can be prepared.

The next time you see a word with the –ette suffix, it will probably indicate something small.
