 WotD: Swear by

My parents swear by cod liver oil, which means when I was a young boy, I had to take cod liver oil capsules every day.

When you swear by something, you strongly believe that it is effective.

They believe that cod liver oil helps to keep you healthy and fights off colds and the flu.

Yes, my parents firmly believed in the benefits of cod liver oil, and when I was taking those capsules, I just swore.

I was one of those people who found it very hard to swallow pills or capsules.

No matter how hard I tried, I could never get a pill or capsule down without chewing it up.

That means that I chewed the cod liver oil capsules, argh!

They are terrible, and the oil stays in your mouth for a while.

I don’t take cod liver oil capsules anymore. These days, I swear by fruits and vegetables – no capsules.

The best part is fruits and vegetables taste fantastic!
