Word of the Day: Predisposed

Over the past week, I have discussed genetic testing with some of my students.

Of course, genetic testing has pros and cons, like everything else, but one advantage is that people can learn if they are predisposed to a disease or condition.

If you are predisposed to a disease or condition, you are more likely than other people to develop that disease or condition.

Being predisposed does not mean 100% that you will develop that condition.

It only means that you have a higher likelihood of developing it.

This post is understandable by someone with at least a 9th-grade education (age 15).

On the Flesch-Kincaid reading-ease test, this post scores 60.

The easier a passage is to read, the higher the score on a scale of 0 – 100.
