Lesson: Agrivoltaics
Whether you call it agrivoltaics, solar sharing or dual solar, it presents a win-win situation for farmers. In late 2019, a local farmer installed an agrivoltaic system over his mandarin orchard. Immediately, it seemed like a great idea to me. He can earn income by selling solar energy and mandarins, and both are produced on the same plot of land. I didn’t know what it was called until I read the DW article. After a bit of research, it came to light that agrivoltaics are very common in Japan.
