Lesson:

e-Estonia

I have a question to ask you. Have you ever seen a unicorn? Maybe you are one of those people who still believe unicorns don’t exist. Well, unicorns do exist, and right now, there are at least four in Estonia. They have the most unicorns per capita in the world (as far as I know, Japan has three unicorns). The reason Estonia, a tiny country, has so many tech unicorns is that it is the most digitally connected country in the world. In Estonia, you seldom have to visit a government office or wait in line. You can purchase a car, register it and receive your license plates all online. Why is this? Well, you’ll have to read the articles to find out. PS, if you don’t know what a unicorn is, the articles will explain that too.

Each conversation topic is based on a theme. In order to help students acquire a basic understanding of that topic, four media articles are provided for them to read. I will never test you on the articles, but I strongly suggest you book lessons far enough in advance to give yourself enough time to properly prepare. The better prepared you are, the more benefit you will receive from our conversations.

Below is an example article for this conversation topic.
