Lesson: Failure to Launch

Have you ever heard the news story out of New York State about Michael Rotondo’s parents who took him to court to get him out of their house?  Who is Michael Rotondo? Nobody. Absolutely nobody. He’s an average guy whose parents sued him to get him out of their house. If you haven’t heard about the story, don’t worry, it’s the first article I have assigned for you to read. This topic got me thinking about deadbeat adult children who are either still living at home or who have returned to the nest. Back in the early 2010s, society referred to the phenomenon of adult children living at home as a ‘Failure to Launch,’ but now it has become a more-or-less standard protocol. Of course, there are many reasons why children remain in the family home, and Michael Rotondo’s story is extreme for sure. Why are adult children remaining on the family homestead longer, and why is it more acceptable these days?
