Lesson: Gen X

Generation X, Gen X for you and me, is made up of individuals born between 1965 and 1980. We are known for our unique cultural and social characteristics, having grown up during a time of significant change, including the rise of technology and the shift from traditional family structures. Many Gen Xers experienced economic fluctuations, such as the recession in the early 1980s, which influenced our views on employment and stability. Culturally, Gen X is marked by a blend of analog and digital experiences. We have witnessed the transition from cassette tapes to CDs (anybody remember mini disks?) and embraced the internet revolution, making us versatile in adapting to technological advancements. We have a reputation for being independent and resourceful; Gen X often values work-life balance, having been dubbed the “latchkey” generation due to our experiences of more “flexible” parenting styles. Our contributions to music, art, and business continue to resonate, shaping contemporary society to this day. So, whether you bend it like Beckham or say, “Talk to the hand!” please don’t go postal during our conversation.
