The era of large families is well and truly over. Women are increasingly choosing not to have children or to become members of the one-and-done generation. Of course, it takes two to tango, so men are also choosing to be childless or only father one child. Birthrates have dropped below replacement rates across the Western world. Governments are in a panic. Are boomers leaving us a world where raising children is impossible? It’s said that educated people have fewer children. Are we reaching peak education and the nadir of childbirth? You may think young men and women are selfish in choosing not to procreate. Either way, let’s discuss the rise of the childless.
