Lesson: Personality, Perception & Change

What do you think about this picture? What kind of personality can you predict the woman has? This is one of my favourite pictures that I have ever come across. The colours are vibrant, and I imagine the woman also has a dynamic personality. When we were very young, and as we grew, our parents noticed how our personality developed. Some of us became curious, reserved or open-minded, while others became pessimistic, outgoing or closed-minded. Our personality has an impact on how we perceive the world around us. I don’t mean only how we feel about the world but also how we physically see it. As we mature, we learn to understand ourselves better. You may like your personality or desire to change it. Like most things in life, your personality can be changed. Unfortunately, like most things, change is not quick, and it doesn’t come easy. In this lesson, we’ll discuss personality, how it affects how we perceive things and how to change it.

Each conversation topic is based on a theme. In order to help students acquire a basic understanding of that topic, four media articles are provided for them to read. I will never test you on the articles, but I strongly suggest you book lessons far enough in advance to give yourself enough time to properly prepare. The better prepared you are, the more benefit you will receive from our conversations.

Below is an example article for this conversation topic.
