Lesson: Spending a Penny

We are all unique individuals. With that said, we do have some things in common, and one of those is we all have to spend a penny. Public bathrooms used to be dark, filthy places nobody wanted to visit unless they were caught short. They have greatly improved. A perfect example of this is the transparent bathrooms recently installed in Tokyo Parks. Let’s put THEM everywhere! (If you detect sarcasm, great.) On the other hand, life has become more complicated. With these changes, society may need to reconsider public bathroom design. Indeed, physically challenged people must be accommodated, but what about those who do not identify as male or female? Which bathroom should they use? What about changing tables for adults who need special care? Public toilets have existed since Roman times. Public Toilet design has to continue to develop and be reimagined.
