Lesson: The Psychology of More

Welcome to today’s ESL conversation lesson on the fascinating topic of “the psychology of more.” In this lesson, we’ll discuss why people often want more—more money, more possessions, more experiences—and why this desire is a natural part of being human. Throughout history and across cultures, humans have always sought to improve their lives and achieve greater happiness or success. It’s what makes us human. However, what drives this constant search for more? Is it simply a matter of survival, or are there deeper psychological reasons behind it? Together, we’ll discuss ideas such as ambition, competition, and the influence of advertising and social media. We’ll also talk about how wanting more can sometimes lead to positive changes, but might also cause stress or dissatisfaction. I think it’s quite a timely topic since Christmas is on the horizon, and we are going through a period of inflation and currency decline.
