Lesson: They Can’t Afford to Live
The cost-of-living crisis is hitting young people particularly hard, leaving many grappling with financial instability. Rising prices for essentials like housing, food, and transportation have made it increasingly difficult for this generation to achieve independence, forcing them to remain in their childhood homes or become forever renters. Many young adults are burdened with student debt, which compounds their financial struggles, making it nearly impossible to save for the future or invest in opportunities like homeownership.
With wages stagnating while inflation soars, part-time jobs and entry-level positions often fail to cover basic living expenses. This leads to a precarious existence, where young people are forced to make tough choices between necessities, such as rent and groceries, or between dating and buying books. As youth navigate this complex landscape, the dreams of stability and prosperity through home ownership seem out of reach, potentially stalling their personal and professional growth for years to come.
