Lesson: What does it mean to be middle-class?

We are living through an era of change. Everything is being turned topsy-turvy. The economy is moving forward at an even pace, but salaries are not keeping up. Wealth is concentrated in the top 10% of society. There are no major world wars, and we are enjoying an unprecedented long life, which is also much healthier than previous generations. But longer lifespans are putting a strain on pensions and care for the aged. Although these factors seem to be positive on the surface, they are squeezing the middle class at both ends.  So, what does it mean to be middle-class?
