Why are there so many young and single people in Western countries? It is becoming an issue and may become an existential conundrum for countries such as Japan. Some say women are choosing to remain single, while dating apps may be one of the reasons a high percentage of young, eligible, heterosexual men have given up on finding a romantic partner. Perhaps women are too fussy, seeing less educated men as not marriage material. Or do non-university-educated men feel less desirable to more highly educated women? We all know that as education increases fertility rate decreases. Is there a similar correlation between education and marriage as well? Let’s look at some reasons behind being young and single.
