Lesson: You’re so Cute

In Japan, we’re surrounded by cuteness wherever we go. There’s so much cuteness everywhere. It’s enough to give you a sugar rush. I know cuteness when I see it and don’t see it when I look in the mirror. This leads me to wonder what cuteness is. Babies, Kumamon and Kitty-chan, are all cute, but I’m not! Why? It’s a question I’ve always wondered. I did some research and read some articles, and now I know why I’m not cute – my head is not big enough, I’m too skinny, and my eyes are not in the right place. It’s a scientific fact! In my case, it’s a design flaw! I’m good-looking, but I’ll never be cute. Ha, ha, ha! Next time, we’ll discuss cuteness, but not mine, because I’m not cute.

Each conversation topic is based on a theme. In order to help students acquire a basic understanding of that topic, four media articles are provided for them to read. I will never test you on the articles, but I strongly suggest you book lessons far enough in advance to give yourself enough time to properly prepare. The better prepared you are, the more benefit you will receive from our conversations.
